Introduction from Nick Wood, new WRplc General Manager

"I joined Railtrack back in the late 90s before Railtrack was dissolved and all the money went from the privatised railway. I continued with Network Rail as Duty Station manager for both Charing Cross and Fenchurch Street station in London.

Decided to move back North and became Area Station Manager for First TransPennine Express covering variably between Middlesbrough, Northallerton, Thirsk and Scarborough.

I have two young children and Jude my partner is Station Manager at Northallerton in a bizarre twist of fate. We live close to the railway in an old Railwayman's cottage in Bishop Auckland although the house is on the market and we will be moving to Darlington when somebody else loves our house as much as we do.

My goal is to watch intently our performance through the summer and see where changes are needed, if anywhere. I want to bring my enthusiasm and flair for the railway out and make it work for everyone.

I have an open door for anyone to pop in and tell me how we should be doing things. I want people to be open with me from the start.
If I'm doing it wrong, tell me."

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
Trespass on the railway or lineside is a criminal offence.
The ONLY circumstances in which anyone - WRA member, WR shareholder or employee - may walk on the 22 mile section from the run-out loop near Castle Hills junction to the present end of the rails at Redmire is when they hold a valid WR Personal Track Safety Certificate and have a DUTY to be on the line at that time.
In the interest of railway safety, the WR will not hesitate to prosecute trespassers.

The closed railway line between Redmire and Garsdale is private property.
Membership of the WRA or shareholding in WR plc does not confer the right to walk upon it, except along the few sections where there is a public right of way.
