Wensleydale Railway will celebrate its 9th Anniversary on 4th July 2012.
To celebrate this achievement, we are issuing a challenge to all our members, volunteers and the local community.

On Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July 2012 , a 36 hour fundraiser will try to collect and lay out at Leeming Bar Station 40 miles of coins (70,400 yards). This is the original length of the line which the Wensleydale Railway Association is continuing its efforts to reinstate. All the proceeds of the fundraiser will be used as part of our Track Appeal.

WRA is asking you to support us in our challenge by collecting 1p & 2p coins and donating them to us. Coins can be left at Leeming Bar Station before the event or brought to Leeming Bar Station over the weekend of the event.

Leyburn Station Platform Fund - Update

In April 2011, the Friends of Leyburn Station (FOLS) launched an appeal to raise funds for the resurfacing of Leyburn Station platform (Phase 1) and the reinstatement of the canopy (Phase 2).

The Leyburn Station Platform Project Team is delighted to report that the first phase of the project was successfully completed on target and on budget in March 2012. Ripon-based civil engineering company, A E Duffield & Sons Ltd were appointed to remove the existing topping material, provide new drainage, realign the platform edge tactile paving, consolidate and resurface the platform and fence and gate the eastern boundary.

The work has transformed the travelling and working experience for customers and staff alike. We extend heartfelt thanks to all who responded to the initial appeal.

             Before (Sep 2011)                                      After

The Project Team is now preparing for Phase 2 which will clearly represent a far greater challenge on all fronts. Further details will be posted as soon as available but secure donations to this second stage may be made in the meantime by clicking on the button below.
